A DIY task for the weekend – the painting of rise and fall brackets for the stable block. Both the Vicarage and Stable originally had cast iron guttering, these had all but rotted away.
The Vicarage was refurbished in heritage aluminium. The reduction in weight and upgrade to a deep-flow system were key in this decision.

For the stable, it was not such as clear choice. There were three types of guttering charting its history: 1) Original cast iron 2) Galvanised steel 3) plastic.

The cast iron, too rotted, the plastic, too modern. However, the galvanised was dated to the refurbishment in the 1960s (some newer). The rise and fall brackets were in reasonable order. A good wire-brushing and painting required.

Several web searches later, additional 112mm matching brackets were obtained. Just a spot of black Hammerite was required.
