This is the side of the garden that faces the church (the right-hand side as you look at the front of the house). A large patio has been added, the steps reseated as well as additional ornamental tress added to the tree line, such as cherry blossom.

A nice view showing the back of the house and the smaller patio outside the Breakfast room doors. To the left, the larger patio with access from the Sitting Room and Drawing Room that faces the Church.
The house was built pre the installation of electricity. Therefore, all of the rooms are laid out to make maximum use of the sun at the time of day they are needed. The kitchen and the breakfast room and its patio get the morning sun and the Sitting room and its patio get the sun from late morning all the way to sunset. This makes the large patio outside the Sitting Room and Drawing Room a fantastic entertaining spot in the summer.
The sitting room (French doors) can be seen to the left and the library to the right. Gothic style outdoor lights were also added.
This is a great entertaining space as the sun hits it from late morning to sunset. We had a murder mystery party here last year and set up large trestle tables and a buffet In this area. Even with thirty people, it didn’t feel crowded.

Other than the large patio, new herbaceous borders are now being created beyond the lawn. The borders are two deep and separated by lawn paths which create multiple pathways for exploration around the garden.
