Buffing the slate fireplace

The slate fireplace had been taken off the wall. This had resulted in the original Victorian iron clips being broken. After the fireplace was stripped of paint, it was fixed back to the wall. We are fortunate to be in the age of the power tool, which allowed wall plugs to be drilled into the wall. After which, screws with large lips on the heads were used in place of the old iron clips. This has served the purpose. After which the lime plaster was finished around the fireplace. The last stage was to buff the slate with some boiled linseed oil.

There are still a few cosmetic areas to be addressed. The good news is, the dirty jobs are now finished in this room. Time to look at getting the bathroom fitted.
