The Old Vicarage B&B, Little Ouse

The bathroom door frame had seen many locks and latches over the one hundred and fifty year history of the Old Vicarage. Rather than try to fill this, it was simpler to splice in a new section of wood, glue, screw and clamp this, then add the latch to this new wood.

On the door you can see a chamfered panel that has been added. These have been added to all the doors throughout the house. One hundred and fifty years of changes of handles had left some of the doors, where a new screw wouldn’t have enough wood to bite on. This solves that problem for another one hundred and fifty years!
