You’ll know from the main site this blog is linked to, that the brick lean-to at the side of the stable is two be extensively remodelled to create a jacuzzi and sauna. The doorway (see picture) on the lean-to will not be required, large bi-fold doors will be put in.

We were originally planning to just do a brick threshold into the newly modified entrance to the tack room. However, it would be a shame to waste the stone threshold from the lean-to, it won’t be required in the new Jacuzzi and sauna room. The solution was to cut and repurpose it for the tack room entrance.
You’ll see in the pictures that a lime cement/mortar has been made to match the rest of the building. Also, in the picture of the stone being cut to fit, you can see the old iron spike that was placed into the stone to assist the securing of the original door frame.

To get the stone to stick to the lime cement/mortar, the underside of the stone was wet before it was laid on top of the lime. The lime was a of a wet constituency to assist this.
