Renovating the stable chimney stack

the general consensus was to take the chimney on the stable block down. After several feet of ivy was removed, the chimney stack was a shadow of itself. The top half came down with the ivy.

The stable block chimney did not have the ornate brick top that the house chimneys have, being a utility building. But what is a couple of extra days, to get it looking as it is now. All the blown bricks were replaced in the stack and new chimney pots installed to match those on the house.

The chimney has also been repaired using traditional lime to match the rest of the building and the required bricks were reclaimed from other areas of the house. Since these pictures were taken, a couple of bird guards have been fitted to the chimney pots.
