Little Ouse

The photographer states that he took the picture on a Saturday. The raised bank of the Little Ouse can be seen to the right and the building to the left is a detached house named The Engine House.

What is now The Old School House (The hamlet primary school being demolished and replaced with houses) can be seen on the left. The garage of Danzak Bungalow can be seen on the right.

The last Headmaster of the school (Mr Jones) and his wife, who was a teacher at the school, are still resident in The Old School House at the time of writing in 2021 (2025 update, the Old School has now been sold and is under new ownership).

The comments on Flickr indicate that this was the furthest extent that the bus travelled. It then reversed backwards to the gravel path by the side of The Engine House, before its return journey.

You can see the Iron Bridge over the Little Ouse, to the left. This bridge connects the hamlets of Brandon Bank, Norfolk to Little Ouse Cambridgeshire.

The bridge has been on the news recently. It is privately owned by a pension company, that wish to impose a yearly charge to the residents to cross it. This is muted as being ITRO £750.00 per annum –

To the front right of the bus, adjacent to the bridge is the path that leads to The Old Vicarage and the Church of St John the Evangelist (both now decommissioned).

The bus has reversed back to its terminus point by the Engine House. Ready to start its return journey.
