Creating a Gothic door

The original victorian door between the kitchen (formerly the scullery) and the morning room (formerly the kitchen) was damaged. A towel rail had been fixed to the top panels at some point in its life. This was broken and was removed.

It would have been quite easy to have just filled the holes in the panel and painted it. However, the door was taken to bits and the top wood panels removed. New arches were made and a stop chamfer placed on the bottom panels (to mirror that in the main house. the servants areas do not have this detail. The top panels were also given a chamfer.

The good news is, that no one thus far has identified that the door has been modernised. All believe it to be original to the house.
