Both tins were bought from the same shop within a couple of day of each other. The tin on the left was used first, hence the stain marks and discolouration on the tin. The tins have a few differences but are from the same manufacturer and are both for the same stain colour.

The key difference is the label colour “Georgian Mahogany”. I’m presuming that the tin on the left must have been in stock sometime and at some point been in direct line of the sun. But who knows!
Both tins have the same darker colour, as per the tin on the right, as would be expected for Georgian Mahogany.
A good example of why you should test your stain on an old piece of wood before applying.
