Waxing the floor

The dining room floor has been repaired, lightly sanded. and cleaned. The idea was to leave a suitable amount of wear, so that the casual observer, might mistake the floor for having little or no work performed on it, since it was laid in 1859. No other treatment was applied other than two coats of a semi-gloss clear hard wax. Which was given a hand buff with a cotton cloth when dry.

The great news about hard wax, is that it can be reapplied when it wears in areas such as doorways. You don’t need to refinish the whole floor, as you would if you used varnish or acrylic. The wax in the cloakroom which is the central Avenue for all traffic could do with a touch up in areas. However, that has had four years of wear on it.
