Building a log store

One of the features that The Old Vicarage lacks is a log store, an open roofed area where wood can be dried or bins kept etc. The majority of the materials are reclaimed from the renovation of the house, this includes:

Bricks

Timber – The entire log store is made from oak, from a two hundred year old tree that fell in the storm in the in 2020. An onsite sawmill came and converted it into planks and posts which were then stacked waiting to be used. The posts cut are 6 inch by 6 inch, which give a good solid feel to the structure

Slates – These are reclaimed from work done on the house

The remaining tasks to do are the lead flashing, the fixing of the slates and then guttering to be added.

Using reclaimed slates from the main house
The red tiles were reclaimed from the house
Bricks were removed and the post inserted into the stable wall
Just starting the slating
