Replacing the Lean to door

At the side of the stable block is a brick built lean to. It was in such a dilapidated state that we did give consideration to demolishing it. As you will see from some of the previous posts, the decision was made to repair it. See posts on the walls and roof being repaired.

This post deals with a new door and frame being installed. You’ll probably notice, from several posts, new means recycled where possible. To this end the pantry door from the main house was used. It was slightly larger and needed cutting to size, but other than that was exactly the same thickness and wood as the original.

As soon as the weather turns, it will all be rubbed down and painted.

The frame and the door had been repaired too many times, it was. far simpler to replace.
A new step has been made
All the ironmongery matches that on the rest of the stable
The old key holes have been plugged
A box was made to contain the lock.
