At the back of The old Vicarage, if you go across the lawn and follow the paths through the wildflower area you you will come across the old mountain ash tree. From the front it looks fine, but walk around the back and you will see that the tree is hollow and the rabbits have created a warren underneath. It is very much like Alice in Wonderland. To this end, last year I started to plant up the area around it with ferns, primroses, hostess, canna, winter flowering jasmine and several other plants that the rabbits seem to leave alone.
Not being in this area of the garden for several months, the nettles and weeds had started to gain control again. It didn’t take long to strip then back and underneath the primroses and hostas have all started to grow very well. Which has allowed me to start to split them.
