I stopped at Sharman’s Garden Centre in Littleport on Sunday and as expected they had a nice display of spring bulbs. I normally drop in every month or so to see what looks good. This year, I have decided to start the long process of populating The Old Vicarage lawns with spring bulbs. This year my focus is mainly on daffodils/narcissus, but quite a few other crept into my basket! Next year, I will focus on cyclamen and snowdrops. The lawn near the summerhouse and by the old ash trees already has a large naturalised colony of golden winter aconites (there is a previous posting showing them). I think I may be tempted to start adding crocus and snowdrops in that area.
The last load of bulbs I bought from Bury St Edmunds, I planted near the paved paths by the house. I am tempted with some of the latest haul of bulbs to start placing them at the the edges of the grass pathways in the wilded areas.
