Autumn Job – Bulb planting round four

Took a drive over to Twenty Pence Garden Centre in Wilburton to see what bulbs they had left. They were also advertising that their Christmas stalls were also open.

Ready to start planting. I chose the largest sack they had rather than go for named varieties.

I want a mix to start naturalising around trees and at the side of lawns.

Starting to plant small groups around the trees at the entrance

I’m planting two to a hole. I find that using a spade is far easier and faster to lay them. I can space two a spade depth, around four inches or so.

To the left of the front path, same principle two to a spades width.

I’m planting roughly in a row rather than a loose planting here, as I want this to look eventually like a spring border, behind the summer flower border.

And the same to the right of the front path.

Lastly a couple of pots of cyclamen coum and hederifolium.

I’ll plant these in differing locations in the garden so they don’t complete.
