Mid November vegtables

The night temperatures are starting to drop but the lowest so far is about 5 degrees. As a result, there are still some vegetable and fruits that I have left out to see how far I can lengthen the growing/harvesting season.

The tomatoes are still outside and though not really ripening are still fresh. I am bringing them in and ripening indoors as required. I would have normally lost them all by now. Instead I’ve had tomatoes for nearly four months from the garden. I will probably pick the last this weekend, as I want to get the bed prepared for the winter.

However, the cabbages are a different story. I took the netting off them in mid October and they now have caterpillars on them. So, it looks like the mild weather has lengthened the season for the cabbage white butterfly.

Leeks as expected are doing well at this time of year.

The last of the beetroot crop is still growing. However, I leave the last of these in for the wildlfe to gnaw on.

Just leaving some of the onions. They were left in a patch that got overgrown, so didn’t do well as they don’t compete well with weeds.

Spring onions still going

Carrots still seem to be growing well.

Pulled a few more and plenty left
