Christmas decorations in The Old Vicarage

Having spent November getting the garden Christmas ready, it was now time to start on the inside. I thought that I had enough decorations, until I started hanging them. I think I may need to go shopping for a few more.

The lights on the staircase are a set of the old Christmas tree lights. They are of course bulbs and not LEDs

At the bottom of the staircase is a wreath, hung using a matching green ribbon.

The colour of the old bulbs reminds me of the wrappers you used to get in a Quality Street tin.

As with the staircase a set of old bulb type tree lights has been placed around the door frame, with a small wreath in the window above.

I do prefer the old fashioned Christmas tree lights, with their housings rather than the modern bare LED strings that seem to be available in the majority now.

The Nativity scene is back in pride of place on the hall table.

It must be twenty years old now and the foliage on the roof and floor has all but gone. It’s time I restored it! First job is to install LED lighting. I had several battery powered bottle lights from the summer party. I will fix one to it, then to find some new flooring material to cover the base

the tree skirt that I bought on line, cam in sections. I thought that would be easier for storage. What I didn’t count on was the half-an-hour straightening all the hooks and manipulating the wicker to get it to fit together.

The cat appreciates all the hard work.

The tree is artificial with LEDs and has been placed in the sitting room and is standing just shy of eight foot tall.

The star at the top of the tree must be twenty plus years old and is good old-fashioned bulb technology. It is a bit of a weight and to get it to stay up, I painted a bamboo cane and then used some tie wraps to fix it to the tree.

Another addition this year in the sitting room is a small music box. It lights up and a train goes around as it plays a selection of carols.

It’s quite fun and run on either batteries or by a USB battery pack. Very modern!

In the breakfast room a light curtain has been placed over the French windows. The bottom of these have been curled up to stop the cat playing with them.

The dining room has a Christmas runner and candles and a small tree placed on it.
