Ladies room

The Ladies room is at the Front of the house above the formal dining room (formerly the Vicar’s study). It has no ensuite and the primary use of this room was as the bedroom for the wife of the Vicar. An unusual feature of this room was the jack and Jill doors from this room and the Rector’s room into a central dressing room. This allowed the occupants of these two rooms to move freely between rooms without going on to the upstairs landing.

As this feature is no longer required the doorway from the Ladies room to the dressing room has has its external architrave removed as well as the door and has been battened and plasterboard over. It is worth noting that the original door-frame has been left in situ, just incase, in the future anyone desires to open this door way up again and observe the formalities of Victorian life.

This room does not have an ensuite. As a result a six foot bed could easily be installed.

Floor waxed. originally this room had a connecting door to the master ensuite and master bedroom. This was in the acove to the right of the fireplace. This has now been sealed. However, the door frame has been left behind the plasterboard panel. This means that, if necessary, it could be opened up again in the future if required.

Plugs were placed on the back wall to allow for either a double or two single beds to be installed.

The following pictures show the before and after of the window and also the fixing of the curtain pole. All of the upstairs rooms have the same curtain pole and colour.
