Some times it is better to put the job in the hands of a professional. The rim lock from the front door was removed during the front door restoration and taken by a locksmith in Cambridge. The mechanism was refurbished, with an additional key being made. You can see the original, now rusty key and the new more ornate key.
The vestibule is having some plaster work done. Once complete, the lock will be put back in place.
