Sowing Wild Flowers

Having now weeded, the edges of the front garden by the drainage ditch and along the front hedge where the yew hedge has been planted. I took the opportunity of using up some old seed packet and some newer ones given away with garden magazines to make up a mix to sprinkle into these areas.

Quite a lot of poppies, cornflowers, hollyhocks and some English marigolds.

I had some sand left over that I placed in a plastic container (one of those that used to hold fifty fat balls for the birds and emptied the seeds in to it.

Then putting the lid on I rotated it several times, after which I, went to the areas that I wanted the seed in and taking a handful at a time, just broadcast sowed. Some years I would slightly rake and water. However, I seems to get the same results, by just leaving and letting them do their own thing.
